Tired of Tossing and Turning in Your Bed Every Night?

Sleep Number Beds May Be For You

By Sam White

A sleep number bed or adjustable bed can help you get a better night's sleep. Do you struggle in bed to fall asleep, tossing and turning, then lying awake, while your eyes droop and your back and neck ache? Maybe a sleep number bed is for you.

But first, you want to know what the heck a number bed is? Simply put, a sleep number bed is constructed with adjustable air chambers that you control at the press of a button,  like your TV remote control. The traditional bed is made up of coils and springs and many of us find that we spend our nights tossing and turning, and not getting the required sleep we need. Here are two good reasons a sleep number bed might be right for you.

1. Poor sleeping habits that you have retained for years, may lead to back, neck and shoulder pains Circulatory, arthritic, snoring and breathing problems may also contribute to poor sleep. A number bed may help you with these health issues. :

2. Improper spinal adjustment may cause tossing and turning. With a traditional mattress, our bodies curve, while the lower back can sink below the rest of our body, bringing discomfort, which again may cause us to toss and turn, shifting  our bodies and legs around. This results in pressure and discomfort, causing your body to turn to a new position. Another benefit of sleep number mattresses is that your partner can control his/her side of the bed. You might prefer one number for comfort and your partner a different comfort number. All this is possible with your sleep number mattress.

Keep in mind the following shopping tips before you buy.

1. Make sure your new bed adjusts easily. A remote control is necessary for ease of use.

2. Your new sleep number mattress should fit your existing bed frame. Measure. If it doesn't fit, don't purchase until you get a new frame.

3. Don't be pressured into buying. Go to a mattress store. Test a number bed. You sleep about one third of your life, so take your time and make the right decision. Sweet dreams.
